Several years ago, I found a marvelous mixed media technique on the Internet that some refer to as crazy collage or Serendipity Paper. It is basically a fun crafting project that anyone can do. Children and adults of all ages, enjoy this making paper.
In my making Serendipity Paper class, we use netting (tulle), colorful paper napkins, recycled sewing patterns, vintage dictionary pages, recycled wrapping paper or tissue, fabric scraps, small pieces of yarn, ribbon or other unique fibers, glitter, dried leaves, flowers or other vintage ephemera images, all layered in a bed of inexpensive white glue.
Overtime, I developed my own twist while creating Serendipity Paper and have enjoyed sharing it with many friends and students.
Creating hand-made paper is a marvelous way to spend time with friends or relatives instead of going to a movie, out to lunch, etc. It's a great therapeutic way to escape life's challenges. Many will say they don't think about anything or feel their pain while crafting or creating Serendipity Paper. Plus, an added bonus you have something to give to others when the class ends.
Your finished Serendipity Paper can be cut in all kinds of shapes for card making, gift tags or even framing as your own personal masterpiece. I find that a rotary cutter works better than a craft knife. Depending on how many layers you add they can be almost like a thin piece of vinyl.
The most important thing is to let yourself go (as a child)
and have fun in this class.
This class is offered on Thursday mornings
in GG's Studio from 10:00am-12:30pm

3rd class
Creating embellishments for your cards using hand-made Serendipity Paper
In this class, we will learn unique ways to re-purpose or recycle everyday items instead of buying expensive designer brands embellishments.
Or, you can create an embellishment for your card by simply using another piece of the background art and layer it on top as shown here.
Another popular design is my version of "Dress Up", by stampington.com.

This unique technique is gold standard for many mixed media projects and can be applied to a variety of items on canvas, boxes, glass, wood, ornaments, cards, tiles, etc. Supply list will vary depending on student's personal interest, but mostly Golden's Gel Medium or Mod Podge, several small canvas or canvas boards are needed.
